Fall-In 2018

FALL IN
November 10, 2018

Attended Fall In this year with two of my sons.  We got to play in two games: Box Battles Cold War Evolution: Tanks, you're welcome; and What a Lovely Day! (Dying Historic on the Fury Road).  We thoroughly enjoyed both games.  We never played Box Battles which is not a surprise since it is apparently a new game. I recommend it. It played well, seemed to give an accurate representation of what would happen in a Nato vs Warsaw Pact battle in 1980.  One thing I did like is the ranges are close to model scale, so they are long.  A 1/300 scale tank can fire out 96 inches, although most of our engagement was fought out at ranges of 20-30 inches.

This is the second time we played Fury Road. First time for my younger son, who was also attending his first convention.  The boys love this game.  The game is run by Peter Megginson who does a really great job of putting on a fun game with lots of players.  Thank you!  Our warboys died historic many times and we left a trail of burning wrecks across the table.  Even though we managed to get Immortan Joe and Nux killed, we did stop the war rig from escaping.  Poor Rictus Erectus had to console himself with just one wife, since everyone else died when we caused the war rig's engine to explode.

Germantown, 1777 - Washington Attacks!  British Grenadier game in 15mm.  Very pretty game and it looked like the players were enjoying themselves.

Our first game. Box Battles Cold War Evolution.  Despite the rather awkward name, it is a fairly elegant game.  Lots of steps, lots of shoot and exploding tanks.

There were several computer moderated games all in the same room. These were all really well put together tables.

D-Day set up.  Never saw the actual game.

Somewhere in Italy the British and Germans were fighting.

A sample of the many games going on.

G. I. Joe. Instantly recognizable. At least if you grew up in the 80s.

The GigaPig

The chase begins

Furiosa's atomic flare gun destroyed every warboy car that came up on the passenger side of the War Rig.

Nux Dies Historic!

The GigaPig has been abandoned.  Immortan Joe, who jumped onto the back of the War Rig drew fire from every one of the Vulvoleni (sp?) eventually succumbing to his wounds.

The end game.  The ladder truck hooked the rig. Warboys from one of the trucks jumped in the GigaPig and nitro-boosted into the side of the War Rig. Since Furiosa had already fired her atomic flare gun, the Pig hit the Rig and after much bouncing and swerving, the Rig's engine exploded killing four of Immoran Joe's wives (so they could join him in Valhalla) and wounding Max and Furiosa.
